What is an Office Business Application (OBA)?
OBAs are an emerging class of business applications that bridge existing line-of-business systems with the people that use them through the familiar user interface of Microsoft Office. OBAs enable businesses to unlock the value of their current set of back end systems by extending the Microsoft Office client and/or Web parts into business processes in line-of-business applications such as ERP, CRM, and SCM.

Are OBAs exclusively built using Office Clients (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, or Outlook)?
No. OBAs leverage both the Office Clients and the new server side components exposed through Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS).
